MP Congress steps up organisational drive in Chhindwara

Chhindwara, Aug 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari on Monday said the party was focusing on strengthening its grassroots organisation and training workers as it prepares for future political battles in the state.

Patwari was speaking at a two‑day training programme for Mandalam, block and city presidents of the Congress committees of Chhindwara and Pandhurna districts. Former Chhindwara MP Nakul Nath, Congress training in‑charge Mahendra Joshi and party national spokesperson Abhay Dubey also addressed the programme.

“Organisational reconstruction is not merely about forming posts. It is a process of establishing a strong relationship between the party’s ideology, workers and the people. A trained worker is the foundation of a strong organisation,” Patwari said.

He said Congress was conducting similar two‑day training programmes in different districts as part of its organisational restructuring in Madhya Pradesh. Workers are being trained in the party’s ideology, Constitution, democratic values, leadership responsibilities and public outreach, he added.

Patwari also highlighted Congress’ victory in the recent Datia Assembly bypoll, saying it demonstrated the importance of an active grassroots organisation and united workers. He raised issues including farmers’ problems, unemployment, law and order, corruption and the state’s financial position.

Nakul Nath, who participated in the training programme, stressed the need to strengthen the party organisation and maintain regular contact with workers and voters.

The programme assumes significance for the Congress as the party seeks to rebuild its organisation in Madhya Pradesh after its defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections. The BJP won 163 of the state’s 230 Assembly seats in 2023, while Congress secured 66.

The Congress has since been focusing on organisational restructuring and strengthening its booth‑level network. The recent Datia bypoll victory has provided the party with a political boost as it seeks to challenge the BJP’s dominance in the state.

Patwari said Congress’ objective was to create an organisation that remains active throughout the year and continuously raises people’s issues instead of becoming active only during elections.

A large number of district‑level office‑bearers and workers attended the programme.
