Quit India Day: MP Bansuri Swaraj, BJP leaders pay tributes to freedom fighters, martyrs

New Delhi, Aug 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) As part of the week-long celebrations of India’s 80th Independence Day, the Delhi BJP on Sunday launched cleanliness drives at memorial sites of freedom fighters and martyrs across the city, with New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj and other senior leaders paying floral tributes to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya and other freedom fighters.

Bansuri Swaraj conducted a cleanliness drive at Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Park in Malviya Nagar and paid floral tributes at the statue of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.

 

Addressing the Malviya Nagar Assembly workers gathered on the occasion, MP Bansuri Swaraj said, “In the 80th year of Independence, by cleaning the memorials of our martyrs and paying floral tributes, we salute our national heroes.”

“These were the martyrs who gave their lives smilingly so that we could attain freedom. Today reminds us that the nation comes first,” she said.

“I appeal to everyone to take a pledge that we will build a developed India that fulfils the dreams of our martyrs. We bow to their sacrifices with the highest respect.”

She was accompanied by BJP’s district president, New Delhi, Ravindra Chaudhary, Municipal Councillor Leena Kumar, District General Secretary Satyendra Kumar, Monika Juneja and others.

Greater Kailash legislator Shikha Roy administered an oath to party workers, who gathered at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Memorial in CR Park, to regularly undertake cleanliness activities.

She paid floral tributes at Netaji’s statue and said, “On August 9, Quit India Day, I feel honoured to serve at the memorial of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.”

At the Shaheed Mahesh Chand Sharma Memorial at Khajuri Chowk in North-East Delhi, MLA Ajay Mahawar carried out a cleanliness drive along with Delhi BJP vice president Ranjeet Kashyap and local party workers. He also paid floral tributes at the statue of Shaheed Mahesh Chand Sharma.

Mahawar said, “During Independence Day Week, visiting the memorials of our martyrs fills our hearts with pride.”

“By cleaning the memorials of those brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the nation, we have made a small effort to repay our debt to them,” he said.

At the memorial of Shaheed Major Asharam Tyagi at Maujpur Chowk in North-East Delhi, Delhi BJP vice president Vinod Bacheti and MLA Jitendra Mahajan carried out cleanliness activities along with Naveen Shahdara District president Master Vinod and local party workers.

They subsequently paid floral tributes at the statue of Shaheed Major Tyagi. Jitendra Mahajan said, “Remembering our martyrs and serving their memorials is the duty of every nationalist Indian.”

At Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk in Najafgarh, Delhi BJP vice president Rajesh Bhatia and Kisan Morcha President Devendra Solanki carried out cleanliness activities and subsequently paid floral tributes at the statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
