Bhubaneswar, Aug 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) On the auspicious occasion of August Kranti Diwas, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday launched the historical 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign during a special event in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion, he appealed to 4.5 crore people of Odisha to proudly hoist the national flag in every village, panchayat, city, home, school, and office across the state from August 9 to August 17.
The Chief Minister said the 'Quit India' movement, which started from the August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai on August 9, 1942, gave a new direction to the freedom struggle.
Paying deep tributes to the freedom fighters, brave martyrs, and immortal sons of Odisha in his address, CM Majhi noted, "The national flag 'Tiranga' is not merely an amalgamation of three colours; rather, it is a symbol of the self-respect, pride, and aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians. Saffron represents courage and sacrifice, white represents peace and truth, green represents prosperity, and the Ashoka Chakra in the middle teaches us to continuously move forward on the path of duty."
To make this national festival completely eco-friendly, the Chief Minister gave a strong call to entirely boycott plastic flags and use only cloth flags.
A colourful padayatra (foot march) was organised on this occasion. Students from various schools and colleges, Scouts and Guides, NCC, and NSS volunteers marched in a disciplined manner holding the Tiranga in their hands. Cultural troupes from different parts of Odisha showcased their traditional folk dances and art.
The Chief Minister along with other dignitaries, prominent athletes, and thousands of students joined this procession chanting slogans of "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".
Addressing the state's 'Gen-Z' and youth, Majhi said, "In today's digital age, certain external forces, invisible enemies, misuse of social media, and the negative impacts of drugs are actively trying to mislead our younger generation. Those invisible malicious forces will never succeed in their motives."
Advising them not to fall into their trap and to give first priority to patriotism, he raised the slogan, the only voice of youth is to secure our country. The Chief Minister stated that Odisha's role will be the most decisive in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat - 2047'.
With the contributions of the state's farmers, labourers, youth, and self-reliant women, Odisha will become a major engine for the country's economic and industrial development.
On the occasion of Independence Day, the Chief Minister called upon the public to proudly honour the families of the brave soldiers and police personnel engaged in the country's security.
