Deepest gratitude: CM Adhikari pays tribute to freedom fighters on Quit India Movement anniversary

Kolkata, Aug 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday paid homage to freedom fighters on the 84th anniversary of the 1942 Quit India Movement.

"Today, we observe the 84th anniversary of the historic 'Quit India' Movement of 1942. To shatter the chains of subjugation and bring forth the Dawn of Freedom, the entire Nation rose in a single, powerful voice with the immortal cry: "Do or Die" (Karo Ya Maro)," said CM Adhikari on his social media handle X.

 

CM Adhikari said that during the movement, thousands of sons and daughters of the country made the ultimate sacrifice to free the country from British rule.

"During this monumental struggle, thousands of brave sons and daughters of our Country made the ultimate sacrifice, driven by the singular vision that future generations might breathe freely in an independent India," he said.

The Chief Minister added, "On this momentous day of August 9th, I offer my deepest gratitude and heartfelt tribute to all those courageous Freedom Fighters. Their unmatched valour and supreme sacrifices form the bedrock of the free India we cherish today. Jai Hind."

The Quit India Movement was launched under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi on August 9, 1942 and gave a decisive impetus to India's quest for independence.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered those who participated in the historic Quit India Movement, and said their courage will always remain an inspiration for every Indian. "Remembering all those who participated in the historic Quit India Movement. Their courage will always remain an inspiration for every Indian," PM Modi said in an X post.

The Prime Minister said the clarion call of Quit India infused new energy in the freedom struggle and reflected the unwavering determination of people to break free from colonial rule.
