Tripura gears up for Har Ghar Tiranga from August 9 to foster patriotism

Agartala, Aug 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Tripura has geared up for the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign, which aims to foster a personal connection with the national flag, pay tribute to freedom fighters, and instil a sense of patriotism among citizens, officials said on Friday.

Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department Secretary Kiran Gitte said that as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan in 2022. The fifth edition of the campaign will be celebrated from August 9 to 17 this year, he said.

Gitte explained that the campaign would encourage citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and actively participate in programmes across the state. “This campaign aims at developing a personal connect with the national flag, paying respect to the freedom fighters and igniting patriotism,” he told the media.

He said this year’s celebrations would be dedicated to the 150th‑year observance of Vande Mataram, with a series of programmes planned across Tripura. The events will include Tiranga rallies, exhibitions, concerts, bike and cycle rallies at district, block and panchayat levels, Tiranga illumination, decoration and rangoli‑making competitions, ‘Tiranga Salute’ to Vande Mataram and ‘Selfie with the Tiranga’.

The ICA Department Secretary further informed that the state‑level Har Ghar Tiranga rally would be organised on August 11 and inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha. The rally will start from Ujjayanta Palace and culminate at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan after passing through different streets of the capital city. On the same day, a Tiranga exhibition and concert will also be organised at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.

In addition to state‑level programmes, similar events will be held in every district to ensure wider participation. The campaign emphasises the involvement of students, youths, clubs and non‑governmental organisations (NGOs), intending to spread the patriotic initiative across rural and urban areas.

ICA Department Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya said the government was leaving no stone unturned to make the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign a grand success. He added that the campaign, organised as part of the nationwide initiative of the Union Ministry of Culture, seeks to take the message of patriotism to every village and urban centre across Tripura.
