Siddharth Randeria’s ‘Tom and Cherry’ marks Zee Studios’ Gujarati cinema debut

Mumbai, Aug 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Actor Siddharth Randeria's Tom and Cherry marks Zee Studios' Gujarati cinema debut, as the studio expands its footprint in regional filmmaking with a story rooted in local culture and entertainment.

More than the launch of a single film, the announcement marks the beginning of Zee Studios' long-term vision to strengthen and scale one of India's fastest-growing language film markets.

"Regional cinema is driving the next phase of India's entertainment story, and Gujarati cinema represents an incredible opportunity with its rich storytelling legacy and growing audience base. Our foray into Gujarati films is a strategic investment in the future of the industry,” shared Sujal Parekh, Chief Business Officer, Zee Music Company.

Parekh added: “We want to build a strong slate of culturally authentic stories with mainstream appeal. Tom and Cherry is the first step in a larger vision to take Gujarati cinema and music to a wider national and global audience."

Siddharth is known for his Gujarati comedy plays for which he has won multiple awards as a writer, director and actor. He is involved in theatre since 1970 and performed as lead actor in many plays and over th last 50 years holds the record for the most live performances by an actor, crossing over 12,000 live performances till date.

His Gujjubhai series started with Gujjubhai E Gaam Gajaavyu in 2002. Lage Raho Gujjubhai completed 800 shows in three years across the world, creating a new record on the Gujarati Stage.

He debuted in Gujarati cinema in 2015 with his successful film Gujjubhai The Great. He also appeared in its sequel, GujjuBhai - Most Wanted.

He played a cameo in Wrong Side Raju. He played the lead role in Natsamrat which was a remake of 2016 Marathi film of the same name. His Chaal Jeevi Laiye! became the highest-grossing Gujarati film of all time.
