Mumbai, Aug 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Stating that the rapid expansion of new industrial estates across the state is key to driving overall economic progress, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday directed officials to expedite land acquisition processes to ensure timely land availability for upcoming industries and accelerate Maharashtra’s industrial growth.
The directives were issued during a comprehensive review meeting chaired by CM Fadnavis focusing on land acquisition for various Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) projects.
Highlighting measures to increase efficiency, CM Fadnavis noted that the industrial plot allocation process has been made significantly more transparent through the ‘MILAP’ online platform.
The system enables online applications, real-time tracking, and automated issuance of offer letters and allotment orders, along with dashboard monitoring. Between October 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026, a total of 1,183 industrial plots were allocated across the state, generating Rs 5,502 crore in revenue.
Currently, the land acquisition process for 66,343 acres is underway across key districts, including Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Pune, Palghar, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Thane, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Nashik and Wardha. Administrative procedures are also progressing to meet the demand for 75,234 acres of land required under 97 MoUs signed by the state government, the Chief Minister added.
To prevent delays caused by high-powered committee approvals, administrative clearances and forest permissions, CM Fadnavis instructed officials to streamline existing procedures.
He emphasised the need to remove unnecessary administrative layers so that land can be provided to industries without delay, giving momentum to investment projects.
The Chief Minister directed that clear timelines be established for plot development based on project scope and investment size.
Commencing construction within designated deadlines will be mandatory; failure to do so will attract phased penalties, along with provisions for reacquiring undeveloped plots.
To bring consistency and efficiency to industrial land utilisation, he instructed officials to formulate updated allotment criteria after studying best practices implemented across India and internationally.
During the meeting, officials presented a detailed presentation outlining the current status of MIDC land acquisition activities. The review also covered industrial plot allocations, redevelopment of undeveloped plots, policy reforms in plot distribution and land rationalisation for ongoing industrial projects, said the release.
