Ghaziabad, Aug 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) A 40-year-old psychiatrist from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad died after allegedly falling from the fifth floor of her residential apartment in the Raj Nagar Extension area. Family members have claimed that she had been facing severe emotional and mental health challenges since her divorce around one-and-a-half years ago.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Hemika Agrawal, who was residing at Officers City-2 Society. According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday. Residents of the housing complex and other bystanders immediately rushed to help her and transported her to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Family members stated that the end of her marriage had deeply affected her emotional well-being. Her father, Dr R. Chandra, a well-known psychiatrist in Ghaziabad, said that his daughter had been dealing with depression and significant mental stress following her separation nearly 18 months ago.
According to NDTV, police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining all possible angles. Officials said statements of relatives and other relevant persons are being recorded, while evidence from the scene is also being scrutinised. As of now, authorities have not officially confirmed the recovery of any suicide note.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Nandgram), Ziauddin Ahmad, said that police personnel reached the location soon after receiving information about the incident and initiated the required legal procedures. He added that some preliminary details have emerged during the enquiry, but the exact sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the death will only be established after a comprehensive investigation and the post-mortem examination.
Earlier, on August 1, a 23-year-old woman, identified as Muskan, the wife of international kabaddi player Sheelu Balhara had allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Haryana's Rohtak district.
Muskan, a resident of the Meham area of Rohtak, had married Balhara in December 2023.
The couple welcomed their son, Hardik, in November last year.
Following information about the incident, police officials reached the spot on Friday and initiated an investigation.
A forensic team was also called in to examine the site and collect evidence.
