Jaipur, July 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Jaipur will host a three-day International Conference on “Commonwealth Peace Mediation and Rule of Law” from July 31 to August 2 bringing together judges, legal experts, mediators, policymakers, academicians, and representatives from Commonwealth nations to deliberate on the future of mediation and access to justice.
The conference will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant, while the “Jaipur Declaration on Peace Mediation–2026” is expected to be adopted during the valedictory session.
The conference will be held at Hotel The Lalit, Jaipur, under the joint aegis of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (RSLSA), the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA), the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), and Nivaran – Mediators of the Supreme Court of India.
The event is being organised under the inspiration of Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court and Executive Chairman of RSLSA, and under the guidance of Hari Om Attri, Member Secretary, RSLSA. It will bring together judges, constitutional authorities, senior advocates, mediators, legal experts, academicians, policymakers, and representatives of international organisations from across the Commonwealth to deliberate on mediation, the rule of law, and inclusive access to justice.
The inaugural session will be held on July 31 at 6:00 PM, with Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant formally inaugurating the conference.
Five high-level technical sessions are scheduled for August 1, followed by two sessions on August 2. The conference will conclude with a valedictory session at 12:15 PM on August 2, presided over by Justice Vikram Nath, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
During the closing ceremony, delegates are expected to adopt the “Jaipur Declaration on Peace Mediation–2026,” envisioned as a roadmap for strengthening mediation practices and advancing a peace-oriented justice framework across Commonwealth countries.
The conference will feature discussions on a wide range of contemporary legal issues, including commercial, family, environmental, community, and cross-border dispute mediation; victim-centric mediation in criminal matters; the role of mediation in strengthening the rule of law; and international best practices in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The conference aims to promote mediation as a peaceful, efficient, cost-effective, and consensus-driven mechanism for resolving disputes while making justice systems more accessible, accountable, and citizen-centric.
According to the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, the deliberations and recommendations emerging from the conference will form the basis of the Jaipur Declaration on Peace Mediation–2026, which is expected to make a significant contribution to future mediation policy and judicial cooperation at both the national and Commonwealth levels.
Member Secretary Hari Om Attri said the conference would mark an important step towards strengthening judicial collaboration, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, and a peace-oriented justice system, not only in India but across Commonwealth nations.
