Woman beats husband to death over domestic dispute in Jharkhand

Dhanbad (Jharkhand), July 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) A woman beat her husband to death during a domestic altercation in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place late Monday night in Gopinathdih Bauri Tola under the Munidih OP police station area. Police have sent the body for postmortem examination and launched an investigation.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Bishu Bauri. Police have taken his wife, Poonam Bauri, into custody for interrogation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple had been involved in frequent domestic disputes for a long time.

According to officials, family members found Bishu lying dead inside his house on Tuesday morning. His body was found on the floor, while his wife and their young son were present at the scene. Police said the woman later fled but was subsequently taken into custody.

After receiving information about the incident, teams from Munidih OP, Putki Police Station and Bhagabandh OP reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it to Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.

The death triggered protests by the victim’s relatives and local residents, who demanded strict punishment for the accused woman.

Police officials pacified the crowd and brought the situation under control. They said legal proceedings are underway.

Local residents said Bishu and Poonam had been married for around 10 years and have two young sons. Bishu worked as a daily-wage labourer and was reportedly addicted to alcohol, which frequently led to arguments and tensions within the family.

Police said the exact circumstances leading to the killing are being investigated. Evidence has been collected from the crime scene, and the accused woman is being interrogated.

They said the precise cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report is received.
