Amaravati, July 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Three devotees were killed and 13 injured when a van they were travelling in was hit by a truck in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district, police said.
The accident occurred past midnight near Chelluru when the truck rammed into the stationary van. Three persons, including a boy, died on the spot while 13 others were injured.
According to police, the speeding truck dragged the van for about 500 meters.
Sixteen people belonging to three families from Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts were travelling in the van to the Majji Gauramma temple at Rayagada in neighbouring Odisha for pilgrimage.
The deceased were identified as Chintapalli Rambabu alias Ramanaidu (50), Majji Narayana Rao (50) and B. Mohan Naidu (8).
The injured were admitted to a government hospital in Vizianagaram, where the condition of one of them was stated to be critical.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, one person was killed in another accident in Krishna district. The accident occurred early Tuesday morning on the Chennai-Kolkata highway near Bommaluru.
According to police, a car rammed into a stationary truck. The person driving the car died on the spot, while his wife, who was seated next to him, was injured.
The deceased was identified as Nunna Suresh, managing director of Tirumala Educational Institutions in Rajamahendravaram.
The couple was travelling from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram. Police shifted the injured women to a nearby hospital.
In another accident in Telangana, 12 passengers were injured when a Road Transport Corporation bus hit a tree. The accident occurred near Metpally Police Station in Jagtial district.
The bus belonging to Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) was on its way to Warangal from Nizamabad.
The bus driver apparently lost control and hit the roadside tree. The injured were admitted to a hospital at Metpally. The probe was underway, said the officials
