Mumbai, July 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) Corruption should never be tolerated in any generation, whether it is Generation Z, Generation Alpha or the generations to come, including Generation Beta, Nepali Congress Member of Parliament Sandeep Rana told IANS on Monday.
Speaking to the news agency, Rana said the principle of rejecting corruption had been taught by ancestors and remained a guiding value.
“We have a saying that both giving and accepting bribes are crimes. That has always been our guiding principle. Therefore, corruption can never be considered acceptable,” he stated.
On the issue of paper leaks, Rana observed that students who work hard for their examinations deserve a fair system free from the fear of question paper leaks.
He described it as a universal concern, not limited to Nepal or India, and said establishing a secure examination process was the right approach.
Referring to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests, the Nepali MP said the Government of India had handled the situation according to its own policies while the Government of Nepal had acted according to its own approach. He described the two as separate matters.
Rana underlined the role of youth in leadership, citing historical examples such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who captured his first fort at the age of 19, and the young age at which Prithvi Narayan Shah began Nepal’s unification.
He noted that many young parliamentarians and leaders are now active in both India and Nepal, including a relatively young Prime Minister in Nepal.
At the same time, he stressed the need to preserve heritage. India and Nepal, he said, are ancient civilisations with histories stretching back thousands of years.
“We must carry forward the values, traditions and cultural principles that define us, along with our glorious history,” he remarked, adding that the energy of youth should be combined with respect for tradition.
On bilateral ties, Rana said relations between India and Nepal continued to progress positively. India remains one of Nepal’s largest trading partners, with Nepal importing a wide range of goods. Although Nepal’s exports to India, such as tea, certain steel products and edible oils, are comparatively smaller, he saw tremendous scope for expansion.
He pointed out that similar food habits and lifestyles make Nepali products easy to market in India, a country of 1.4 billion people compared with Nepal’s population of about 30 million. Products from the Himalayas, often organic and enriched by natural mountain sources, hold special value, he added.
The open border between the two countries, which allows citizens to travel freely, further creates enormous potential for expanding trade and strengthening economic cooperation, Rana concluded.
