Islamabad, July 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan on Sunday reported that the death toll from the monsoon rain, flooding and landslides has risen to 107 since June 26, local media reported.
According to NDMA, 344 people have been injured due to monsoon-related incidents. 447 houses were damaged, and 269 livestock have died, Pakistan's Samaa TV reported.
Seven people died in Punjab, two in Sindh, and one each in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 24 hours.
"Meanwhile, 25 people were injured, including 20 in Punjab, three in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two in Sindh," Samaa TV reported.
The NDMA urged residents, particularly those living in vulnerable areas, to remain vigilant and follow official safety advisories as monsoon rains continue in parts of the country.
These fatalities were caused by drowning and structural collapses, while injuries were reported due to roof collapses and electrocution, Pakistan-based daily Dawn reported.
As many as three people, including a man, a woman and a child, were killed, while five others were injured in four separate roof-collapse incidents in Lahore's Garhi Shahu Railway Colony, Bobby Plaza, Saggian Pind and Kahna.
Two people, including a man and a child, were killed and three others, including a woman and two children, were injured after the roof of a house collapsed near Adda Dhing Shah in Kasur district of Punjab.
A woman died after the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain in Faisalabad, while a child drowned in rainwater that had accumulated in fields near Pathan Colony in Gujranwala.
Road access to several parts of Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB) remains cut off for the fourth consecutive day as flash floods and glacial lake outburst floods (Glofs) continue to damage highways and hamper restoration efforts, local media reported.
"Thousands of residents and tourists remained stranded as road closures severed access to several valleys. Flood-hit communities also continued to face shortages of drinking water, electricity and communication services," Pakistan's daily Dawn reported.
"Between July 18 and July 21, Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan recorded unprecedented temperatures, resulting in rapid glacier melting and Glof incidents in several areas," Director General of the POGB Disaster Management Authority, Ataur Rehman Kakar, told Dawn.
