Bengal govt to introduce new attendance system in various depts using mobile phones

Kolkata, July 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) The West Bengal government is set to bring a major change in the attendance system of government employees, a government official said on Sunday.

From now onwards, there is no need to install any separate biometric hardware machine in the office of respective departments.

Under the new rules, employees will be able to give attendance directly from the office premises using their mobile phones. As a result, not only will the government save a huge amount of money, but the attendance process will also be easier and hassle-free.

A notification has been issued by the Finance Department in this regard recently, the official said.

According to the official, this modern system should be implemented as soon as possible. For this, various departments have been asked to look into their own software solutions.

According to sources, although the work of installing biometric machines in various departments has started over the past few years, in many cases they did not work properly due to lack of maintenance or mechanical faults.

Moreover, if this new mobile-based geo-fencing technology is introduced, employees will be able to register their attendance through the app from within the designated boundaries of the department. As a result, it will be easier to ensure timely attendance in the office and the entire process will be transparent, the state's Finance Department said.

The process of sending this guideline to all the government offices has already started.

It is to be noted that State Secretariat Nabanna had already taken strict steps regarding the attendance of government employees.

Mandatory 'face recognition' biometric attendance system was implemented in Nabanna from June 15.

It has been clearly instructed that this system will be implemented in all government offices of the state in phases by July 31.

Except for the heads of departments, all the officers and employees will have to register their presence on the face recognition device at the time of entry and exit.

However, there is a slight change in it. If anyone arrives between 10:15 to 11 a.m., he or she will be marked as 'late'.

If anyone reaches the office after 11 a.m., he or she will be considered 'absent'.

If anyone leaves the office before 5:15 p.m., he or she will be considered 'early departure'.
