Nassar Backs Student Protests at Max, Min & Meowzaki Screening: “The Government Should Have Delivered Justice Earlier, I Support Them”

Veteran actor Nassar grabbed headlines at the special screening of Max, Min & Meowzaki, where he not only celebrated the release of the film alongside its cast and crew but also shared his candid views on some of the biggest talking points in the entertainment industry and beyond. From expressing support for the student protests taking place across the country to reflecting on the rise of pan-India blockbusters and his reduced presence in Hindi cinema, the celebrated actor spoke openly during his interaction with the media.

When asked about the ongoing student protests across the nation, Nassar didn't hesitate to share his stance. Extending his support to the students, he said, "Yeah, they are happening, right? And I think... well, the government should have delivered justice earlier. I... I support them." His remarks quickly drew attention, with the actor making it clear that he believes the concerns of the protesting students deserved an earlier response.

The conversation then shifted to Indian cinema's growing appetite for large-scale spectacles following the phenomenal success of Baahubali. Asked whether filmmakers started chasing bigger productions after the blockbuster franchise changed the landscape, Nassar welcomed the trend. "Which is a good thing; it shows India can make big-scale films, and they are doing so," he said, acknowledging how ambitious storytelling has become a defining feature of modern Indian cinema.

Nassar also addressed why audiences have been seeing him less frequently in Hindi films despite his memorable performances over the years. The actor explained that his packed schedule in the South Indian film industry has naturally limited his Bollywood appearances. "Yes, that’s true, mostly because I’m busy with South Indian films. I would love to be in Hindi films, and perhaps I’ll do more if I receive wonderful offers. There’s no specific reason behind it; they simply want me more in the South, and I’m comfortable there—that’s all. But I do love Hindi movies—films like this one. Speaking about big-budget versus small-budget films: 'No, it’s good. We have two extreme kinds of films. We have big blockbusters—big-budget movies—and then films like this one. So, it’s good; it’s good that we have heroes like that.'"

His comments reflected his appreciation for the diversity of Indian cinema, where both massive commercial entertainers and intimate, content-driven films can coexist successfully. While Nassar continues to be one of the busiest and most respected actors in South Indian cinema, his statement also leaves the door open for more Hindi film appearances if the right scripts come his way.

Meanwhile, Max, Min & Meowzaki has arrived in cinemas with a refreshing and emotionally layered story.
