Jaipur, July 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday flagged off Bharat Taxi in Jaipur, marking the launch of the cooperative ride-hailing platform in the state capital.
The launch event was held at the Bhagwat Singh Mehta Auditorium at the OTS campus, where the Chief Minister attended as the chief guest.
The company claims that passengers will benefit from fares 10–15 per cent lower than those charged by Ola and Uber, while eliminating surge pricing to ensure uniform fares even during peak hours.
Bharat Taxi recently launched its customer mobile application in Jaipur and said commuters can save around Rs 25 on rides of up to 11 km compared to other app-based taxi services.
The company describes itself as India's largest cooperative mobility platform, operating on a model in which drivers are stakeholders in the platform rather than merely service providers.
The launch ceremony was also attended by Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol, Rajasthan Minister of State for Cooperation (Independent Charge) Gautam Dak, and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol said that Bharat Taxi represents a transformational change in the cooperative sector.
"We aim to empower taxi drivers through this cooperative model, ensuring that every taxi driver is an owner. This is the vision of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. Drivers receive the entire fare amount, besides a share in the dividends earned by the company," Mohol said.
He added that the platform has more than eight lakh registered drivers and an equal number of passengers across the country.
"Our 'Sarthis' have collectively received Rs 77 crore in their accounts since the launch. The service has already been launched in Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra, and today it has expanded to Rajasthan," he said.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sharma said the cooperative sector has opened new avenues of employment and entrepreneurship for the youth.
"Gujarat and Maharashtra have demonstrated how the cooperative movement can significantly contribute to economic growth. The vision of 'Sahkar Se Samriddhi' has been successfully implemented in these states. The Central government has extended full support to Rajasthan in strengthening the cooperative sector," the Chief Minister added.
Drivers associated with the platform said the cooperative model has helped improve their earnings by making them stakeholders in the business.
According to the company, Bharat Taxi aims to provide affordable transportation for passengers while ensuring higher and more sustainable incomes for drivers through its cooperative ownership model.
