CBI coordinates deportation of two wanted criminals from Gulf nations

New Delhi, July 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) The CBI, in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the NIA, secured the deportation of two Red Notice criminals from Gulf nations in connection with their involvement in cases of murder and financial fraud, an official statement said on Friday.

Muhammedali Kanneer Palliyalil was deported from Saudi Arabia on Thursday, said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He was wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for unlawful activities and murder.

Avinash Arjun Rathod was deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the same day and was taken into custody by a team of Maharashtra Police on arrival at Mumbai airport, the CBI said.

Rathod was wanted in connection with a case involving a large-scale financial fraud. In criminal conspiracy with others, he induced investors to invest in multiple schemes by falsely promising assured fixed monthly returns, the CBI said.

He dishonestly misappropriated the funds and diverted the proceeds through multiple bank accounts and demat accounts. Earlier, Indian agencies got a Red Notice published against him through INTERPOL, said a CBI statement.

Palliyalil was wanted by the NIA for unlawful activities and murder. He, along with his associates in furtherance of the larger conspiracy, unlawfully assembled with deadly weapons and assailants criminally trespassed into the shop of a victim, wrongfully restrained him and inflicted grievous injuries by using lethal weapons and killed him, the CBI said.

Earlier, at the request of the NIA, the CBI got a Red Notice published against Palliyalil through INTERPOL channels.

Subsequently, the subject was geo-located in Saudi Arabia and arrested by the Saudi authorities. Thereafter, an extradition request was sent to the authorities in Saudi Arabia. Following due process, the subject was deported to India, the CBI said.

The CBI, as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, coordinates with all Law Enforcement Agencies in India through BHARATPOL for assistance via INTERPOL channels.

Due to the coordinated efforts of MEA, MHA and various law enforcement agencies, more than 170 wanted criminals have been brought to India in recent years through coordination via INTERPOL channels, said the statement.
