Bhopal, July 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) A young woman who had left her home without informing her family was safely reunited with her relatives after the timely intervention of ticket-checking staff on board the Gondwana Express, West Central Railway said on Wednesday.
The development came on Monday on Train No. 12409 Gondwana Express between Itarsi and Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi stations in the Bhopal Division.
According to railway officials, during routine ticket checking, a co-passenger informed Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector Rajendra Bairwa and Senior Chief Commercial Ticket Examiner Vijay Manral that a young woman travelling alone had left her home without informing her family.
The two ticket-checking staff immediately spoke to the woman and verified her identity. They then contacted her family members, who confirmed that she had left home without informing them.
The officials informed the railway control rooms at Bhopal and Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi and made arrangements to ensure the woman's safety during the journey.
She was kept under the supervision of the railway staff and accommodated safely in the S-3 coach until the train reached Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi. On reaching the station, the woman was handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
After completing the required formalities, the RPF reunited her with her family.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria said the railway is committed to ensuring the safety of passengers. "The alertness and prompt action of the ticket checking staff helped ensure the young woman's safety and enabled her to be reunited with her family. Such incidents show the commitment of railway employees towards passenger welfare," Kataria said.
West Central Railway said the coordinated efforts of the ticket checking staff, railway control rooms and the RPF ensured the woman remained safe throughout the journey.
The railway added that its staff are trained to respond quickly in such situations and provide assistance to passengers whenever needed.
