Raftaar Breaks Silence on Jantar Mantar Student Protest, Says ‘I Am Only With PC: Protection of Constitution’

Rapper Raftaar has shared his reaction to the ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar and the reported police action against young demonstrators, including the use of lathi charges during clashes. In a detailed video message shared on Instagram, the rapper expressed his support for the students' concerns while making it clear that he does not want to associate himself with any political party.

Addressing the issue, Raftaar said that his emotions were deeply affected after watching visuals of students being confronted during the protest. However, he also emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced perspective and focusing on the core issue rather than political affiliations.

In his video, Raftaar said, "Hello, my name is Raftaar. In the battle between the heart and the mind, the heart often wins—and yesterday, my heart won too when I saw students getting beaten up and witnessed the situation. However, I haven't abandoned my rational mind."

The rapper further explained that many people want to stand with the protesting students but do not want their support to be connected with any political organization. He said, "There are many people like me who want to support this protest—who fully support the cause—but do not wish to align themselves with any political party. I am not with any 'P'—whether it’s BJP, CJP, AAP, or CP. I am only with 'PC': Protection of the Constitution."

Talking about the repeated allegations of examination paper leaks, Raftaar demanded accountability and questioned why those responsible are not being held answerable. He added, "We demand accountability. If exam papers are being leaked repeatedly, we need to know the reason; and if a specific individual is responsible, then you must demand their resignation."

The rapper also highlighted why the issue goes beyond just an examination controversy, explaining that today's students are tomorrow's professionals who will directly impact society. He said, "Secondly, what is truly concerning is that these are the very doctors who will treat us in the future—treating my parents, my future children, and me. My own children will also need to study and take these entrance exams. So, this is about the future; it is for the kids."

Raftaar stressed that there are many citizens who want to participate in such movements but prefer issue-based protests without political involvement. He said, "The issue is that there are many people like me who want to join and support this protest but don't want to align with any political party. So, if a protest is being organized—especially one involving only kids or teenagers—please keep us in mind; there are others like me who would want to attend. We specifically prefer not to go where a political party is the organizer."

Sharing his personal perspective, the rapper explained why he does not want to join a movement solely because it shares opposition toward a particular group or party. He said, "I haven't read up on the policies of any other party for quite some time. So, I don't know who wants to bring about what kind of change. It doesn't feel right to me—or sit well with me—to join forces with someone else just because we share a grievance against a common target, simply to get my own issue resolved."

Raftaar also spoke about wanting to participate in a peaceful and legally organized protest. Explaining why he could not attend demonstrations in Delhi or Mumbai, he said, "So now, I just want to fight for the kids. And I think anyone who feels the way I do should go to places where protests are authorized—places where the focus remains strictly on the issue at hand rather than getting lost in the crowd. Secondly, I did try to go to Delhi today, but I have a show running here involving children who have also left their homes to participate; I couldn't just leave them behind."

He further added, "So, I checked about Mumbai. I believe there was a protest at Nariman Point today, but it didn't have official permission. I don't want to go to a place where there is no authorization or proper organization. I want to do this the right way—in a completely legal and orderly manner—because this is solely for the nation's children."

Concluding his message, Raftaar said, "That was my point. I think there are many people out there who think just like me or find themselves mentally in the same situation. Anyway, we are in this together. This is for the future of the kids; this is for the nation. Jai Hind. Thank you."
