New Delhi, July 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal issued a stern warning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, urging the Central government not to attempt any "misadventure" or crackdown against students peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar.
In a post on social media platform X, accompanied by a video message, Kejriwal expressed deep concern over reports of heavy security deployment and restricted internet access around the central Delhi demonstration site.
"Will the central government crack down today on children who are peacefully protesting?" Kejriwal questioned in his post. "My appeal to Modi ji is that it should not undertake any such misadventure."
Elaborating on the situation in his video message, the AAP chief revealed that he had been tipped off by journalists and others regarding heightened security measures near Jantar Mantar. He pointed out that internet restrictions in the surrounding area had been severely tightened, accompanied by a massive build-up of police and paramilitary personnel, triggering strong news in the air of an imminent crackdown on those gathered at the site.
Directly addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kejriwal cautioned him against attempting to forcibly suppress the student movement. He noted that previous assumptions about the agitation fading away were mistaken, as public momentum had only intensified in response to government pressure. "You might have thought the movement would fizzle out, but instead, it has grown even larger," Kejriwal said.
He emphasised that attempting to crush the peaceful demonstration would yield severe fallout for the ruling dispensation. He added that the protesting youth are entirely fearless, asserting that the more the authorities attempt to suppress them, the stronger their resolve becomes and the more their apprehension dissipates.
Closing his message with a sharp appeal, the former Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to refrain from any “misadventure” -- heavy-handed action against young demonstrators.
"So please, dare not to crack down whatsoever on our children and our youth or else it would cost you dearer," Kejriwal warned, emphasising that suppressing young citizens exercising their democratic rights would carry serious repercussions.
