Ranchi bar DJ murder case: Prime accused among ten convicted, sentencing tomorrow

Ranchi, July 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) A Ranchi court on Monday convicted 10 accused, including the prime accused, Abhishek Singh alias Vicky, in the sensational murder case of DJ Sandeep Pramanik at the well-known Extreme Bar in the city.

The verdict was delivered by the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Shailendra Kumar at the Ranchi Civil Court. The court will hear arguments on sentencing on Tuesday and pronounce the quantum of punishment on the same day.

Those convicted include prime accused Abhishek Singh alias Vicky, his father Ashok Kumar Singh, Mohammad Shamiruddin, Prateek, Mrityunjay Kumar, Prakash Kumar, Divakar Upadhyay, Alok Diwa, Pankaj Kumar and Sumit Kumar.

The shocking incident took place late on the night of May 26, 2024. According to the prosecution, four to five youths arrived at the bar around closing time and got into a heated argument and physical altercation with the staff.

Seeking revenge, Abhishek Singh allegedly returned to his rented flat in Sail City, fetched a rifle and came back to the bar. He then entered the premises and shot DJ Sandeep Pramanik in the chest from close range, killing him on the spot.

Pramanik, a native of neighbouring West Bengal, was working as a DJ at Extreme Bar. After the shooting, the accused allegedly fired several rounds in the parking area before fleeing in his car.

The entire sequence of events was captured on the bar's CCTV cameras.

Acting on the footage and other evidence gathered, Ranchi police launched a swift investigation. The then Senior Superintendent of Police and City DSP reached the spot immediately after the incident and initiated a scientific probe.

Based on CCTV footage and corroborative evidence, police arrested 14 accused, including Abhishek Singh, his father and several associates, and sent them to judicial custody.

Finally, the court convicted ten accused in this case.
