Kolkata, July 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) A young woman died mysteriously in a New Town residence while her live-in partner was also recovered from the same flat in a bloody state, police said on Monday.
The police recovered the hanging body of the woman on Sunday night. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
According to police, the deceased’s name is Trisha Saha. Police said Trisha, who was a rising social media influencer, was only 25 years old. She hailed from Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district. About four months ago, she rented a flat in New Town with a young man from Naihati in North 24 Parganas district named Souvik Roy.
Her body was recovered from the rented flat, while her live-in partner Souvik was also found in a bloody state with a cut near the vein in his hand. He is undergoing treatment in hospital.
In the initial investigation, police suspect that the death may have been an attempt to commit suicide due to a personal dispute. However, they are not ruling out foul play or a murder angle as Trisha’s body had injury marks in various places. Efforts are also underway to find out how her live-in partner was injured.
A police officer of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate said they are looking into whether Trisha was hanged after being beaten and whether Souvik tried to commit suicide after that.
“We are not coming to any conclusion right now. All aspects are being investigated. If Souvik’s condition improves, he will be questioned,” the officer said.
The officer added that the veins in the young man’s hand were cut and in that situation he might have hugged his lover’s hanging body, which is why there was blood on the deceased’s feet too.
Neighbours said they were not aware of any trouble or quarrel between the couple. An elderly man told media persons that the two were well-behaved and that he had never heard them fight.
“I don’t understand what exactly happened,” he said.
Trisha’s body has been sent for autopsy. The New Town police station is currently awaiting the report to ascertain the cause of death. A case under unnatural death sections has been started.
