New Delhi, July 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday led cyclists in the national capital as the 82nd edition of the Fit India ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative was held across the country, with participation from healthcare workers, athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
The nationwide campaign witnessed large-scale participation from Ayushman Arogya Mandir workers, with cycling events organised at more than 15,000 locations, promoting the message of fitness, preventive healthcare and active lifestyles under the Fit India Movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Participating in the cycling event in Delhi, Mandaviya highlighted the growing reach of the initiative and its role in encouraging people to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Speaking to the media, the Union Minister said, “Today marks the 82nd edition of ‘Sundays on Cycle’. The event was organised along with lakhs of Ayushman Arogya Mandir workers across the country. I am happy to share that Sundays on Cycle was held at more than 15,000 locations today, where healthcare workers spread the message of staying healthy and fit while joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Sundays on Cycle movement.”
He said the campaign has evolved into a nationwide public movement aimed at inspiring citizens to make physical activity a part of their daily routine.
Emphasising that even small individual efforts can bring about significant social change, Mandaviya added, “A large number of people have joined today’s ‘Sundays on Cycle’ event along with Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Today marks the 82nd edition of ‘Sundays on Cycle’. It is a small initiative, but it can become the beginning of a big transformation. Whenever you pedal, you become a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement. By joining the movement, you take a pledge to keep yourself healthy.”
The event in Delhi saw enthusiastic participation from cyclists of all age groups, healthcare professionals, fitness advocates and sportspersons, reflecting the increasing popularity of the weekly initiative.
Olympian Preety Dubey, who joined the cycling event, stressed that fitness should be a priority for everyone, not just athletes.
She said, “I am very happy to be a part of Sundays on Cycle. Fitness is not just important for athletes, but for every individual.”
Echoing the same sentiment, one of the participating cyclists said, “I am very happy to be a part of Sundays on Cycle. Fitness is not just important for athletes, but for every individual.”
At the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative, Anita Solanki, Yoga and Wellness Coach, Ministry of Ayush, said, "I have been on my fitness journey for the last six years, and I have been helping people by sharing what I have learned. I am happy to see improvements in the lives of those I guide. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya continue to encourage people to adopt fitness..."
The Fit India ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative has emerged as one of the flagship public fitness campaigns of the Government of India, encouraging citizens to embrace cycling as a simple, sustainable and effective way to improve health.
