Inspector indicted by US law enforcement hand in glove with AAP: Akali Dal

Chandigarh, July 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday asserted that Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra, indicted by United States law enforcement authorities for links with gangsters, was hand in glove with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and demanded an independent probe to uncover who was sheltering him.

In a statement, SAD chief spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler said Nagra had earlier created history by registering a case against an AAP opponent for committing sacrilege against the party’s symbol, the broom.

He alleged that Nagra stooped to please his political masters and, in return, was allowed a free hand to extort money from a United States‑based Punjab family.

Kler said it must be ascertained who gave him political shelter and whether the proceeds of crime were shared with his political masters.

Terming the FBI indictment as a reflection of AAP rule in Punjab, Kler said the inspector’s links with dreaded gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria showed there was more than meets the eye.

He alleged that the AAP government facilitated Bhagwanpuria’s transfer from a jail in Assam to Punjab and used him to intimidate political rivals in the Tarn Taran by-election.

Kler further claimed that the AAP government helped Bhagwanpuria by declining sanction to prosecute him in a UAPA case.

He said this pointed to a possible wider alliance between police officers, criminals and AAP leaders, which could only be exposed by an independent probe.

He added that since Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also held the Home portfolio and had failed to check rogues in police uniforms, he should resign immediately in the public interest.
