Kolkata, July 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) A female lawyer on Saturday filed a written complaint against former Trinamool Congress councillor Bappaditya Dasgupta at Patuli Police Station in the southern outskirts of Kolkata, alleging that he orchestrated an attack on her.
She claimed she was attacked with a knife and is being pressured to withdraw from Bappaditya’s case. The woman told police that the former councillor’s associates attacked on his behalf. Based on her complaint, the police have started an investigation, though an FIR against Bappaditya is yet to be registered.
Bappaditya, the former Trinamool councillor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, has already been arrested by officers of Patuli Police Station on multiple charges, including assault and intimidation.
According to the police, the complainant is involved in the legal proceedings in court. It is alleged she is being asked to withdraw as she is contesting against Bappaditya. She told police that for the last few days she has been receiving death threats due to her profession.
She had already informed the matter in writing to the Patuli Officer‑in‑Charge, the Kolkata Police Commissioner and other officials.
Allegedly, while she was going to Patuli Police Station last night to file a complaint, some miscreants attacked her. She was stabbed multiple times with a knife, resulting in injuries to her hand.
It is worth noting that along with Bappaditya, a case was also filed against Sourav Ghosh, Trinamool Youth President of Bappaditya’s ward in Patuli. He has also been arrested. Both Bappaditya and Sourav Ghosh are currently in police custody.
Bappaditya was the councillor of ward number 101 of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Earlier, he was a BJP member before joining the Trinamool Congress in 2010.
He was elected as a councillor for the first time in 2015. After the 2021 Assembly elections, allegations were also made against him of vandalising the houses of BJP workers.
