Assam Rifles intensifies outreach in Manipur to build trust

Imphal, July 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Assam Rifles on Saturday organised a series of sustained civil‑military engagement programmes across Manipur to strengthen community confidence, promote youth empowerment, and foster greater public cooperation with the security forces.

Held in Imphal valley and hilly areas, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Tengnoupal districts, as part of the broader objective of nation‑building and grassroots stabilisation, the structured outreach initiatives provided a direct platform for constructive interaction between local residents and security personnel.

A defence spokesman said a total of 252 residents, youths, students, and teachers participated in the programmes, which focused on building trust, encouraging dialogue, and promoting community participation in maintaining peace and security.

In Bishnupur district, an interactive outreach programme was organised in Maibam Chingmang village, with 50 residents participating.

Assam Rifles personnel discussed the prevailing security situation and sought feedback from villagers on issues affecting daily life, including farming, unrestricted movement, and local security concerns.

Residents raised issues related to security and the circulation of rumours. The interaction helped establish a real‑time information‑sharing mechanism at the grassroots level.

Villagers were encouraged to maintain close coordination with security forces and promptly report suspicious activities. They were also informed about ongoing humanitarian initiatives, including area domination patrols, medical assistance, and enhanced security deployment.

As part of its outreach in Thoubal district, the Assam Rifles organised a motivational session for 50 youths and their parents at Haioraibi Makha Leikai in Lilong. A pre‑recruitment team led by Colonel Sahid (Retd) guided career opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces, the Agniveer scheme, and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

The session covered eligibility criteria, fitness requirements, recruitment procedures, and preparation strategies.

In Tengnoupal district, the Assam Rifles organised a programme titled A Day with Company Commander at New KLP in Moreh, where 145 Class X students and seven teachers from several schools participated. Institutions included Bethal High School, St. George High School, Netaji Memorial High School, Government Higher Secondary School, Dr Kelvin Academy, MT Moreh Public School, and Eklavya Residential Model School.

Students were encouraged to cultivate discipline, leadership qualities, and a spirit of selfless service. The programme also featured volleyball and tug‑of‑war competitions to promote teamwork and sportsmanship. The event concluded with a group photograph of students, teachers, and Assam Rifles officials.

According to officials, the simultaneous outreach programmes across the three districts reinforced mutual trust between communities and security forces, encouraged constructive engagement, and helped create a stable environment conducive to long‑term socio‑economic development and peace in the region.
