Jaipur, July 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Pappu Gurjar, the brother of slain dacoit Jagan Gurjar, was shifted from Ajmer High Security Jail to Dausa Central Jail under heavy security following concerns raised by his family over his safety after Jagan's murder inside the prison.
Pappu was escorted to Dausa at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday after the Ajmer jail administration received transfer orders from the prison headquarters on Monday.
Additional police personnel were deployed to ensure the transfer was completed without incident.
Ajmer High-Security Jail Superintendent, Paras Jangid, confirmed that the transfer was carried out in compliance with official directives.
The transfer comes nearly two weeks after Jagan Gurjar was allegedly strangled to death inside Ajmer High-Security Jail on June 29.
After the incident, Jagan's family and residents of Bhavutipura village in Dholpur's Dang region demanded that Pappu be moved to another prison, citing concerns for his safety.
The transfer was among the five demands submitted by the family to the district administration.
When the demands were not addressed immediately, hundreds of villagers announced plans to stage a large protest after the conclusion of Jagan's 'Barhvi' (12th-day death ritual) on July 12.
As protesters gathered in Bhavutipura, Dholpur Collector Srinidhi B.T. and the Superintendent of Police held late-night talks with community representatives at Gajpura intersection.
Following the discussions, the administration accepted several key demands, including the transfer of Bari Station House Officer Devendra Sharma to the police lines.
The villagers subsequently withdrew their protest.
Pappu Gurjar had also been hospitalised while lodged in Ajmer High-Security Jail on July 4 after complaining of chest pain following a meal. He was examined by the jail doctor and later taken under heavy security to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital for further evaluation.
After receiving treatment, he was discharged and returned to the jail.
Jagan Gurjar was killed inside Ajmer High-Security Jail on June 29.
According to the police, Vishnu, an undertrial accused in the Kuldeep Jaghina murder case, allegedly strangled Jagan with a towel inside the prison.
Jagan's last rites were performed on July 1 in his native village of Bhavutipura in Dholpur district.
Police said the investigation into the murder is continuing.
