New Delhi, July 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a push towards ensuring electoral accuracy, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Monday addressed an awareness meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in his Rohini constituency.
At an event held in Rohini’s Sector-9, Gupta stressed that a clean and updated electoral roll is the foundation of a healthy democracy, said a statement.
The Speaker urged residents to actively cooperate with booth-level officers during this intensive phase to eliminate duplicate entries and ensure the absolute integrity of the local voter registry.
The event, which drew a large gathering of residents and community leaders, was organised to raise public awareness of the ongoing electoral roll update and to ensure robust civic participation in the democratic framework.
Gupta highlighted that the SIR is a meticulous, door-to-door verification drive aimed at purging errors from the voter lists, registering new eligible voters, and correcting existing data.
The Speaker urged residents to actively cooperate with booth-level officers during this intensive phase to eliminate duplicate entries and ensure the absolute integrity of the local voter registry.
Delving into the operational mechanics of the SIR drive, the Speaker provided detailed guidance on the verification process, deadlines, and the required paperwork.
Gupta underscored the critical importance of time-bound verification, warning that missing the official deadlines could result in eligible citizens losing their voice in upcoming elections.
Recognising that community mobilisation is key to the success of such an expansive administrative exercise, Gupta made a fervent appeal to everyone present to act as ambassadors for the cause.
He called upon Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), youth volunteers, and elders to spread awareness far and wide, ensuring that the message reaches every household in the area.
He emphasised that helping neighbours and marginalised groups navigate the documentation process is a shared civic responsibility.
Concluding his address, the Speaker reiterated the ultimate goal of the Special Intensive Revision initiative: ensuring that no eligible citizen is left behind or deprived of their fundamental right to vote.
He stated that every single vote shapes the future of the city and the nation, making it imperative that 100 per cent voter enrolment is achieved in Rohini and across Delhi.
