Chennai, June 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Monday called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to convey birthday greetings and discuss opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation between the United States and Tamil Nadu.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Ambassador Gor said he met the Chief Minister to wish him a happy birthday and explore deeper collaboration across sectors, including trade and investment, technology, supply chains, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and energy.
The meeting coincided with Vijay’s first birthday celebration after assuming office as Chief Minister.
Across the state, party workers and supporters marked the occasion through welfare activities, public events and celebrations. The government also began the rollout of new ration cards on the day, adding administrative significance to the Chief Minister’s birthday.
In his post, Ambassador Gor highlighted the scope for expanding cooperation between the United States and India through stronger engagement with Tamil Nadu, one of the country’s leading industrial and economic hubs.
Discussions focused on sectors expected to drive future growth, innovation and investment.
Tamil Nadu has emerged as a preferred destination for global investors due to its strong industrial base, skilled workforce and robust infrastructure.
The state is a major centre for automobile production, electronics manufacturing, renewable energy projects, pharmaceuticals and information technology.
Since taking office in May, Vijay has emphasised accelerating industrial growth, attracting fresh investments and creating employment opportunities.
His government has sought to position Tamil Nadu as a key player in global supply chains and emerging technology sectors.
Political leaders, coalition partners, industrialists and well-wishers extended birthday greetings to the Chief Minister, who celebrated amid growing national and international attention on his administration. Celebrations were held in several districts, with party cadres organising social service programmes and community outreach initiatives.
The visit by Ambassador Gor added a diplomatic dimension to the celebrations and underscored Tamil Nadu’s growing prominence in international economic and business networks.
