New Delhi, June 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday highlighted a series of major anti-drug operations carried out across the country during May, ranging from the busting of a transnational narcotics network and the seizure of high-grade cocaine valued at Rs 1,745 crore to India’s first-ever seizure of Captagon tablets.
Sharing a roundup of its activities on social media platform X, the NCB said May reflected its “relentless and coordinated efforts” to protect the country from the menace of drug trafficking and substance abuse.
“From busting a major transnational narcotics network & seizing high-grade cocaine worth ₹1,745 crore to making India's first-ever seizure of Captagon, arresting key traffickers, securing landmark convictions, destroying narcotic drugs, preventive detention of habitual drug offender & impactful State-Level JCC meeting —May, 2026 reflected NCB's relentless & coordinated efforts in safeguarding the nation from the menace of drug abuse. Here are some of the glimpses of the key events that defined the month," the agency said.
The NCB also shared a video highlighting key operations conducted during the month.
On May 1, the agency busted a major international narcotics network in Mumbai and seized 349 kg of high-grade cocaine valued at approximately Rs 1,745 crore.
On May 2, a quarterly State-Level JCC meeting for Rajasthan was convened by NCB Jaipur to strengthen inter-agency coordination in narcotics intelligence gathering and enforcement.
On May 5, Mohammad Wali, Mohammad Rehan Shah, both residents of Pauta Kalan in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, and Imran Khan, a resident of Neoria in Pilibhit, were sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a 10 kg charas seizure case investigated by NCB Delhi in 2021.
On May 7, a joint operation by NCB Jodhpur and Rajasthan Police led to the seizure of 19 kg of the controlled substance 2-Bromo-4-Methylpropiophenone, along with 25 litres of acetone, 50 litres of toluene and 10 litres of hydrochloric acid.
The following day, authorities seized 228 kg of 2-Bromo, a controlled substance used in the manufacture of mephedrone (MD), from a tanker during a joint operation by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Rajasthan and NCB Jodhpur.
On May 13, NCB Odisha seized 106 kg of ganja concealed in a stockyard in Sambalpur during an operation against an inter-state drug syndicate.
On May 17, NCB Aizawl arrested Myanmar-based drug kingpin Thancintuang alias Chintuang in Delhi in an intelligence-led operation targeting transnational methamphetamine and heroin trafficking networks.
On May 21, Rajasthan Police, with support from NCB Jodhpur, busted a clandestine mephedrone manufacturing laboratory in Modkiya, Phalodi, based on specific intelligence inputs.
Subsequent operations included the seizure of 702 kg of ganja in Maharashtra’s Gondia district on May 22, 802.245 kg of ganja by NCB Siliguri on May 23, and 479 kg of ganja by NCB Ranchi in Simdega on May 31.
Additionally, on May 27, Nigerian national Egwin Kingsley Ugochukwu was sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2.325 kg amphetamine seizure case registered by NCB Chennai in 2021.
