Mauganj, June 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid a growing political controversy over the death of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant Akanksha Chaturvedi and allegations related to irregularities in the medical entrance examination, the district administration in Madhya Pradesh's Mauganj on Friday assured her family of all possible support.
Mauganj Collector Sanjay Kumar Jain visited the residence of Akanksha's family in Manganiya village and expressed condolences over the student's death.
He described the incident as "deeply tragic" and assured the bereaved family that the district administration would stand with them during the difficult period.
Akanksha, a resident of Mauganj district, was preparing for the NEET in Nagpur, where she allegedly died by suicide earlier this week.
Her death has triggered a political debate, with the Congress linking the tragedy to the stress caused by the alleged NEET paper leak controversy and concerns over irregularities in the examination process.
The issue gained further attention after Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi spoke to the deceased's family and the Congress announced financial assistance.
During his visit, Collector Jain directed officials to remain in constant contact with the family and ensure that any government assistance reaches them promptly.
"The loss of a child is an irreparable tragedy for any family. The district administration is with the family and will provide all possible support," he said.
The Collector also appealed to students facing examination-related stress to seek help from their families, teachers and counsellors, emphasising that challenges can be addressed through dialogue and support.
Mauganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Virendra Jain said that the local police had no role in the case, as the incident occurred in Nagpur and is being investigated by Maharashtra Police.
"The matter is under investigation by Nagpur Police. No offence related to the death was registered in Mauganj," he told IANS.
Chief Executive Officer Mehtab Singh Gurjar, Additional Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate A.P. Dwivedi and other district officials accompanied the Collector during the visit.
