Bihar CM announces four-fold compensation for township project landowners

Patna, May 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Samrat Choudhary, the Chief Minister of Bihar, on Tuesday clarified the compensation policy for farmers whose land may be acquired for a proposed township project, assuring that no individual would suffer financial loss.

Speaking at the inauguration of a ‘Sahyog Shivir’ (Assistance Camp) in Saran, the Chief Minister addressed concerns raised by residents, particularly those worried about covering major family expenses, such as their daughters’ weddings, if their land is acquired.

He explained that individuals facing natural calamities, personal hardships, or urgent financial needs can submit applications to the District Magistrate.

After verification, compensation, calculated at four times the standard rate, will be directly transferred to the landowner’s bank account.

The statewide ‘Sahyog Shivir’ initiative was formally launched from Dumri Buzurg Panchayat in the Sonepur block.

Highlighting its purpose, Choudhary stated that the programme aims to ensure swift grievance redressal and timely justice for citizens.

He issued strict instructions that all applications received at these camps must be resolved within 30 days, warning that officials failing to meet the deadline would face automatic suspension on the 31st day.

The Chief Minister also noted that the government had already introduced the ‘Sahyog Portal’ and a dedicated helpline (1100) on May 11 to facilitate the registration of complaints.

Going forward, Sahyog Shivirs will be organised in every panchayat across Bihar on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

To ensure accountability, notices will be issued to concerned officials on the 10th, 20th, and 25th days after an application is filed.

During his address, Choudhary highlighted development initiatives undertaken under PM Modi and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, stating that the Sahyog Shivir would play a key role in transforming Bihar into a prosperous state and contributing to India’s growth as a developed nation.

He reiterated that the government is committed to reaching people directly to resolve their issues and warned that strict action would be taken against any negligent official.

The Chief Minister also announced several development projects for the Sonepur region, including the construction of a “Ganga-Ambika Path” modelled on Patna’s JP Ganga Path.

Additionally, work is underway on a new bridge, an airport, and a township to be named after Baba Hariharnath.
