Gandhinagar, May 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Gujarat government has granted in-principle approval to 80 per cent of the new measures announced in this year's state budget, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel directing departments to speed up implementation so that benefits reach citizens without delay.

The decision was discussed at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Patel in Gandhinagar on Friday.

Government spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani said the chief minister had instructed departments to ensure that pending proposals affected by the recently concluded election's model code of conduct are also cleared quickly.

“More than 80 per cent of the new matters mentioned in the state budget have already been given in-principle approval,” Vaghani said after the meeting.

He further added, "The remaining proposals pending because of the model code of conduct should also be cleared immediately so that schemes can be implemented at the earliest.”

The state government had presented a Rs 4.08 lakh crore budget for 2026-27 earlier this year, with allocations focused on infrastructure, student welfare, healthcare, tourism, and preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games planned for Ahmedabad.

Vaghani said the chief minister emphasised that citizens should begin receiving the benefits of the newly announced schemes as soon as possible.

Departments have been asked to accelerate administrative procedures, including approvals and implementation planning.

The cabinet also discussed scholarship support for students ahead of the new academic year.

Patel instructed officials to ensure that no eligible student is deprived of scholarships after schools and colleges reopen following the summer vacation.

“The Chief Minister instructed that continuous monitoring should be maintained so that every eligible student receives the scholarship due to them,” Vaghani said.

The state government’s push for faster execution comes amid a broader emphasis on the timely implementation of budget announcements and administrative reforms.

Gujarat’s development programme documents for 2026-27 include measures for infrastructure expansion, legal reforms, and investment-oriented projects.

During the cabinet meeting, ministers also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the successful completion of his Gujarat visit on May 10 and 11, during which several public programmes and roadshows were held across the state.

The cabinet meeting reviewed ongoing development works and public welfare programmes as part of the government’s implementation agenda for the current financial year.

Officials said departments have been asked to maintain coordination to ensure quicker execution of budget-related schemes and citizen services across the state.
