Rohit Bose Roy Backs Micro-Drama Wave, Calls It ‘The Future of Content Consumption’

Actor and filmmaker Rohit Bose Roy has strongly endorsed the rise of micro-drama content, calling it the next major shift in digital entertainment. The veteran performer, known for his extensive work across television, films, OTT platforms, and theatre, made the remarks during the Rocket Reels success celebration hosted for India’s emerging vertical OTT space unveiled by filmmaker Vikram Bhatt. The event highlighted how short-form storytelling is rapidly gaining momentum in India’s evolving entertainment ecosystem.

Speaking to the media at the event, Rohit Bose Roy shared his perspective on how audience habits have transformed in recent years and why micro-dramas are here to stay. “Well, in my view, these vertical micro-dramas are definitely the future. The way we consume content has changed significantly over the last four or five years. And I think this is undoubtedly the future. While this trend has already gained significant traction in other countries, here it is still in its nascent stages,” he said, emphasizing the global rise of bite-sized storytelling formats.

He also praised Rocket Reels for being among the early adopters of this format in India and positioning itself ahead of the curve. “Rocket Reels are among the early movers, so I believe they already hold an edge. So, all the very best to Rocket Reels,” he added, highlighting the platform’s growing influence in shaping the micro-drama ecosystem. His comments reflect a broader industry shift where creators and platforms are experimenting with shorter, mobile-first storytelling experiences.

Apart from his views on digital evolution, Rohit Bose Roy continues to maintain a busy and diverse acting portfolio across multiple mediums. His recent and upcoming projects include the cyber-crime thriller Controll, where he plays the antagonist Spydro / Shekhar Sisodiya, the continuing drama Ram Rajya - The Katak Saga Continues, and the crime thriller Shootout at Byculla.
