Khejdi Screening in Mumbai Celebrates Powerful Storytelling and Inclusive Cinema

The special screening of the Rajasthani film Khejdi was recently held in Andheri, Mumbai, on May 5, 2026, turning into a meaningful gathering that celebrated both cinema and social storytelling. The event marked the film’s wider recognition following its release on the STAGE app, where it began streaming after an impressive festival journey across more than 20 international film festivals.

The evening brought together cast, creators, and several well-known faces from the television and digital entertainment space. The film has been written and produced by husband-wife duo Archana Tayade and Aashiesh Sharrma, with Aashiesh also delivering a standout performance in the lead role. His portrayal of a transgender character has been widely discussed for its emotional depth and transformative approach.

Actress Shrutika Arjun attended the screening, drawing attention with her elegant black ensemble. The event also saw the presence of several television and entertainment personalities, including Akshara Singh, Jigyasa Singh, Vikrant Singh Rajpoot, Paritosh Tripathi, Reva Kaurase, and Parveen Singhal, adding to the celebratory and supportive atmosphere around the film.

Directed by Rohit Dwivedi, Khejdi is rooted in a deeply emotional and socially relevant narrative. The story follows the life of a transgender individual (kinnar), exploring themes of identity, acceptance, and the emotional barriers created by societal fear and misunderstanding. Its sensitive treatment of the subject has been one of the key reasons for its strong festival run.

Since its digital release on April 30, 2026, the film has continued to gain attention for its bold storytelling and authentic representation. The Mumbai screening further strengthened its position as a film that goes beyond entertainment, aiming to spark conversation around inclusivity and human dignity.

With its powerful performances and socially conscious narrative, Khejdi stands out as a significant addition to contemporary regional cinema, proving that impactful stories continue to find both global and digital audiences.
