New Delhi, April 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal said on Thursday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win in the West Bengal Assembly polls due to the Trinamool Congress government's indulgence in "corruption and hooliganism".
Speaking to reporters, Maliwal expressed confidence that BJP is certain to win across all five states/Union Territories where Assembly elections have been conducted.
Commenting about the Bengal polls, the Rajya Sabha MP said: "I have spoken to people on the ground in West Bengal, including journalists and locals, and they are saying BJP is winning there. It will win in Bengal because Trinamool has been involved in hooliganism and corruption."
"Along with that, the good work done under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership is also a major reason why BJP is set to win in West Bengal," Maliwal asserted.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also exhibited his optimism about the BJP's victory in West Bengal.
According to the Union Minister, West Bengal is heading for a major change for the first time in a long period.
"There is strong anti-incumbency against the current (Trinamool Congress) government in Bengal due to their misgovernance, appeasement politics and corruption," he told reporters.
"The people of West Bengal are reposing their faith on the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the policies of the BJP. I am confident that there will be a government change in the state," Pradhan added.
He said that BJP is confident of retaining power in Assam as well.
"In all probability, we will retain responsibility in Puducherry too. In Kerala and Tamil Nadu, we are confident that the BJP and the NDA will emerge victorious in a big way," the Union Minister added.
Given the high voter turnout in both phases of elections in the state, West Bengal BJP In-charge Mangal Pandey echoed, saying: "It is very clear that the public wants to uproot and throw away this (Trinamool Congress) 'ruthless' government."
Pandey asserted, saying: "People want to create a government that will work towards development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The people of Bengal have voted for this."
"The lotus will definitely bloom in West Bengal on May 4 and a double-engine government will be formed," he added.
