King Opens Up on Acting Debut in 'Lukkhe': "I Am Still a Student at Heart"

Rapping sensation King is stepping into a whole new world with his acting debut in the upcoming series Lukkhe, and by his own admission, it’s been less about expectations and more about learning, absorbing, and evolving. Speaking at the Mumbai trailer launch alongside the ensemble cast and creative team, King kept it honest, grounded, and refreshingly self-aware.

When asked about his debut and expectations from the series, he shared: “Well, this is my first time doing this—alright. Secondly, I’ve learned a tremendous amount. I certainly didn't come into this with such grand expectations—you know what I mean. I really enjoyed listening to these stories—the kind that make you feel like, "Yes, there is something substantial here." And fundamentally, I consider myself a listener first. So, I had a great time.”

What stands out most in his approach is how naturally he transitioned from music to acting—not with pressure, but curiosity. For someone already established in the music world, stepping into performance-driven storytelling was more about exploration than perfection.

He continued: “I jumped in to give it a shot, and in the process, it turned into a massive learning experience. After all, I am still a student at heart. So, I wouldn't be able to rate myself—especially since this is my debut. However, for me, the greatest compliment would be—much like how I perhaps started my journey in music—if people were to say: "When you do something for the very first time, it doesn't feel like a first attempt at all." I think that would be the ultimate compliment for me. If someone who genuinely cares about me were to say that, it would give me a real boost. As for ratings and such—well, that will come in due time. You guys watch it, and depending on how you feel about the guy, just shower him with your love accordingly”

The series, directed by Himank Gaur, places King in the role of MC Badnaam—a rising rapper caught in a world of rivalry, crime, and emotional conflict. The story unfolds in Chandigarh and centers on his clash with OG, played by Shivankit Parihar, forming the emotional and narrative backbone of the show.

Alongside King, the series features Raashii Khanna, Palak Tiwari, Lakshvir Singh Saran, and Nakul Roshan Sahdev, among others. Together, they build a world where music, ambition, and morality constantly collide.

Lukkhe, produced for Prime Video, promises a gritty mix of rap culture, revenge, and redemption—wrapped in emotional storytelling and high-energy performances. Set to premiere on May 8, 2026, the series marks a bold new chapter for King as he expands from music into cinematic storytelling.

If King’s words are anything to go by, Lukkhe isn’t just his debut—it’s his classroom.
