Srinagar, April 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) J&K Crime Branch Kashmir on Thursday said it has filed the chargesheet against an accused for making false promises of land and jobs.
A statement by the Crime Branch Kashmir said today, “The Economic Offences Wing Kashmir (EOW) of Crime Branch J&K submitted a chargesheet in case FIR No. 84/2022 under Section 420 RPC against Bashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Gani Bhat, resident of Astanpora, Tailbal Hazratbal, Srinagar, before the Hon’ble Court of Judge Small Causes Srinagar”.
The statement said that in January 2019, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Asthanpora, Tailbal, Srinagar, was accused of fraudulently obtaining a large sum of money from the complainants.
He promised to provide JDA land in Jammu and arrange government jobs for the relatives of the complainants.
However, he failed to deliver the land and fulfil his job promises.
Subsequently, an investigation revealed that Bashir Ahmad Bhat had intentionally deceived the complainants and dishonestly obtained their money through false assurances.
The evidence gathered confirmed the commission of cheating under Section 420 RPC.
Accordingly, a chargesheet was filed before the Hon’ble Court for judicial adjudication.
The general public is advised to remain vigilant against economic fraudsters and report any such incidents directly to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing Kashmir (Crime Branch J&K), Abdul Waheed Shah.
If one has been a victim of economic fraud, they may also submit their complaint to the Crime Branch via email.
The Crime Branch is deployed to investigate special crimes for which the territorial police lacks dedicated staff, as the executive police is responsible for maintaining law and order in addition to anti-terrorist operations.
The Crime Branch has dedicated sleuths who devote full time to crime investigation, and they are equipped with technology to investigate such crimes.
The Crime Branch is part of the J&K Police, and its staff comprises police personnel with specialised training to investigate financial crimes and other out-of-the-ordinary criminal activities.
