Gujarat Cabinet passes resolution thanking voters after BJP's historic local body poll victory

Gandhinagar, April 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Gujarat Cabinet on Wednesday adopted a resolution expressing gratitude to voters following the victory in local self-government elections, during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

State government spokesperson and Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani said the Cabinet placed on record appreciation for what it described as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s "historic victory" in the recent local body elections.

"The outcome reflected public endorsement of the state government's development policies and leadership," he added.

According to the resolution, the 6.5 crore people of Gujarat had "once again reaffirmed their trust" in the state government.

It conveyed collective gratitude from the Cabinet to citizens for what it described as continued support for development-oriented governance under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.

The meeting noted that the state's development trajectory had been shaped over the past two-and-a-half decades under the broader policy direction associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and referred to administrative guidance provided by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The resolution said that Gujarat had implemented a wide range of central and state schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Svanidhi and PM Vishwakarma Yojana, along with Kisan Samman Nidhi.

It said that these programmes were aimed at extending welfare benefits to all eligible beneficiaries without exclusion.

It also highlighted infrastructure and policy initiatives such as Jyotigram Yojana for rural electrification, Sujalam Sufalam and SAUNI for water management, and investment promotion efforts linked to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and subsequent regional conferences.

The Cabinet said that these initiatives had contributed to industrial growth in sectors, including semiconductors and renewable energy.

Urban development was also referenced, with the resolution noting the implementation of development works under the "Urban Development Year-2025" initiative.

It also added that Gujarat had been awarded hosting rights for the Commonwealth Games 2030, which, according to the resolution, was expected to contribute to the expansion of the state's sports infrastructure.

On rural development, the Cabinet referred to the Mukhyamantri Gramothan Yojana, expansion of natural farming practices, and initiatives promoting solar energy adoption in villages, describing the emergence of "solar villages" in several areas.

It also noted measures to ensure daytime electricity supply for farmers and simplification of land revenue procedures to facilitate agricultural transactions.

The state government said it had also announced relief packages during natural calamities to support the farming community.

The resolution referred to social welfare measures, including increased representation of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in local bodies and a revision of the income eligibility limit for Scheduled Caste students' scholarships to Rs 3.6 lakh.

It also cited schemes such as the Dr. Ambedkar Foreign Study Loan, Manav Garima Yojana and Samaras Hostels.

Tribute was paid to tribal leader Birsa Munda, with the state government saying that his birth anniversary was being observed as Tribal Pride Day, alongside programmes such as the Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan, aimed at tribal welfare.

In its concluding observations, the resolution said that the state government remained committed to continuing development initiatives and welfare delivery across all sections of society.

It added that the administration would work towards further strengthening public services and infrastructure in line with long-term development objectives.

The Cabinet expressed collective gratitude to the people of Gujarat for its continued participation and support, saying: "The government viewed the mandate as an endorsement of its governance approach."
