Anti-corruption crackdown: CBI catches PSU manager ‘accepting illegal gratification’

New Delhi/Hazaribagh, April 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a manager of the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) in Hazaribagh for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, officials said on Friday.

According to a press release issued on April 24, 2026, the premier central agency registered a case on April 23 against the accused, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, who was serving as a Manager at the Central Warehousing Corporation in Hazaribagh. According to the press statement, the case was filed following allegations that the official demanded an “undue advantage” of Rs 1,00,000 from a complainant.

The complainant had alleged that a bribe was sought in exchange for allowing him to continue work that had already been awarded to him, the CBI press release says. The agency took the complaint seriously. As a result, the agency initiated swift action and set up a trap to catch the accused in the act. An attempt was made to nab the accused red-handed.

During the operation, CBI officials reportedly caught Kumar red-handed while he was accepting the bribe amount of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. According to the press release, the successful trap confirmed the allegations. The arrest also led to his immediate apprehension.

Officials stated that such action demonstrates the agency’s continued commitment to tackling corruption in public sector undertakings and ensuring accountability among government officials. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb malpractice and promote transparency in administrative processes, say officials.

The CBI has confirmed that the case remains under active investigation. Further inquiries are underway to determine whether additional individuals were involved or if there is a broader pattern of corrupt practices linked to the accused. Authorities have not ruled out further legal action as the probe progresses.
