Bihar: Dy CM VK Choudhary asserts majority ahead of trust vote, outlines govt agenda

Patna, April 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and JD-U state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha on Thursday addressed a press conference at the party office, sharing their views on the current political developments in Bihar.

Speaking to the media, Vijay Kumar Choudhary said the newly formed government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will soon seek a vote of confidence in the Legislative Assembly, expressing confidence that it will comfortably prove its majority.

He emphasised that the government has been formed under the guidance and blessings of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and will continue to follow his development-oriented path.

“The government is new, but its direction remains the same,” he said.

Responding to criticism from Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav regarding the state’s financial condition, Choudhary asserted that Bihar’s fiscal position is stronger than ever. He also urged the opposition to account for its own tenure in power.

On the issue of an alleged ban on land transactions in 11 districts, he clarified that no blanket restriction has been imposed. Instead, he said limited and temporary restrictions are in place only in specific areas where development projects are underway.

The Deputy Chief Minister also indicated that a Cabinet expansion would take place after the government proves its majority in the Assembly, following which the administration would accelerate the implementation of its agenda.

On Nishant Kumar’s proposed Bihar tour, set to begin from May 3, he termed it a positive step that would help strengthen the party’s grassroots connections.

On the liquor prohibition law, Choudhary said its validity cannot be questioned based on individual opinions, noting that it had been passed with consensus in the Assembly.

Commenting on election-related violence in West Bengal, he blamed the All India Trinamool Congress, holding it responsible for the incidents.

Reiterating the government’s priorities, JD(U) leaders said that the new administration will focus on political stability, development, and continuity of governance.
