Jaideep Ahlawat Manifests Playing A Character From Hussain Zaidi Book

Actor Jaideep Ahlawat is letting his creative ambitions be known, and this time, it comes straight from his love for crime literature. The actor, who recently attended the launch of Mafia Queens Of India, shared that he is actively “manifesting” an opportunity to bring one of S Hussain Zaidi’s characters to life on screen.

 

Speaking at the event, Jaideep expressed his admiration for Zaidi’s work and the depth of storytelling in his books. He said, “I feel that I really enjoy the descriptions found in the book Dubai to Dongri. Black Friday is definitely one of my favorite films based on his work, and I just hope to find a character—you know, just one—from his stories to portray. I truly hope that happens very soon. I’m just putting this out there, Sir—manifesting a role from your writings! I want to play a character.”

 

When asked if he already has a specific role in mind, the actor chose to keep things under wraps, adding a hint of intrigue. “I won't reveal which one just yet; I’m currently manifesting it. I’ll talk about it once it actually happens. For now, I’ll just say that I have one specific character in mind,” he said.

 

Jaideep also opened up about his admiration for iconic crime films, particularly Maqbool. Reflecting on it, he shared, “I absolutely love Maqbool. I feel as though I was somehow deprived of that film. Whenever I watch it, I find myself wondering, "Why wasn't I in this movie?" Or, "Why wasn't I part of the industry back when all of this was happening?" It is truly a magnificent character. Then there is Ram Gopal Varma's Company — it is one of the finest examples of screenwriting and filmmaking, particularly in its portrayal of crime in Bombay. The way the film opens, the way it ends, the narration, the visuals—everything was so amazingly defined. So, I think Maqbool is one of those films that I will always look back on with a sense of longing, thinking, "If I had been in it, I would have done something different." I don't know exactly what that would have been, but I just hope that, under his direction, I might have had the opportunity to learn something valuable.”

 

Talking about missed collaborations, Jaideep mentioned filmmaker Aditya Dhar, saying, “Aditya Dhar is a very old friend of mine; we’ve been together since my very first film. So, I hope that someday, I’ll get the chance to work in one of his future films.”

On the work front, Jaideep was last seen in Ikkis alongside Dharmendra. He has an exciting lineup ahead, including Drishyam 3 starring Ajay Devgn and King featuring Shah Rukh Khan.

 

With his passion for layered storytelling and intense characters, Jaideep Ahlawat’s wish to step into the world of Hussain Zaidi’s narratives feels like a natural fit. For now, the actor is putting it out into the universe—and fans will be watching closely to see if that manifestation turns into reality.
