Day-long special Assembly session to discuss women’s reservation bill soon: MP CM

Bhopal, April 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday announced that a special one-day session of the state Legislative Assembly will be convened soon to discuss the women’s reservation issue.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters in Bhopal, he said the matter would be taken directly to the court of the people so that every citizen understands the importance of women’s empowerment.

He said a protest march (Akrosh Rally) is scheduled for Monday in Bhopal. The Chief Minister also said that the BJP is determined to secure the rights of “sisters” and will expose those who have betrayed the cause of “Nari Shakti” (women’s power).

Following the failure of the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the linked Delimitation Bill in the Lok Sabha last week, the BJP has launched a state-wide protest campaign against the Congress and other opposition parties, he said.

He added that in the coming days, demonstrations, rallies, foot marches, and public meetings will be organised across all districts and divisions of the state.

Resolutions supporting women’s reservation will also be passed at the panchayat and urban local body levels.

CM Yadav described the events in Parliament as unfortunate and condemnable for democracy.

He said a historic opportunity to empower women was undermined by the opposition’s negative attitude. This is not just a political issue but a question of women’s dignity and rights, he asserted.

The Chief Minister alleged that the opposition has turned even this sensitive matter into a tool for political gains and that the nation would not forget this insult to Nari Shakti. He recalled that when the Women’s Reservation Bill was first introduced in 2023, it had received support from all political parties. However, when the time came to take it forward through necessary amendments and related bills, the opposition backed out, which he termed as sheer opportunism.

The party claims that an injustice has been done to women’s rights and has vowed to take this issue to the masses across Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government remains committed to women’s empowerment and will continue its efforts to ensure that the benefits of 33 per cent reservation reach women at the earliest possible time.
