Vidyut Jammwal Joins Star Packed Street Fighter Live Action Movie as Dhalsim

Legendary Entertainment and Capcom have officially dropped the main trailer for their upcoming live-action adaptation Street Fighter, bringing one of gaming’s most iconic franchises back to the big screen in a bold new way. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film reimagines the legendary World Warrior Tournament with a modern cinematic twist while staying rooted in the spirit of the original games.

Set in 1993, the story follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken, played by Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo, who are pulled back into battle when Chun-Li, portrayed by Callina Liang, recruits them for a brutal global tournament. What begins as a high-stakes fighting competition soon unravels into a deeper conspiracy that forces the warriors to confront not only each other, but also their pasts.

One of the standout reveals from the trailer is the casting of Indian action star Vidyut Jammwal as the mystic fighter Dhalsim. Known for his intense physicality and martial arts background, Jammwal’s inclusion has already generated strong buzz among fans, especially given the character’s spiritual and combat-driven legacy in the franchise.

The film boasts an explosive ensemble cast, featuring Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Curtis Jackson as Balrog, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Eric André as Don Sauvage, and many more in a lineup designed for maximum fan excitement and chaos.

Adding to the spectacle are performers like Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, and Rayna Vallandingham as Juli. The scale of casting alone signals a film designed as a full-blown global crossover event.

The screenplay is written by Dalan Musson, with the story pulling from the long-running Street Fighter series created by Capcom. The trailer teases intense hand-to-hand combat, rivalries reborn, and a darker conspiracy that threatens the very balance of the tournament itself.

Set for release on October 16, 2026, Street Fighter is shaping up to be a high-energy, character-packed adaptation that leans heavily into nostalgia while amplifying scale and spectacle for modern audiences. If the trailer is anything to go by, expect pure chaos, heavy hits, and plenty of fan service.
