Bhopal, April 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) Setting the tone for Census 2027, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday personally joined the state's digital census campaign and called on citizens to actively participate in what he described as a crucial exercise for shaping the state’s future.
Urging residents to come forward, CM Yadav said: “I appeal to all residents of the state to fill the self-enumeration form and, when the census team comes to your home, provide them with all necessary information. This is for the bright future of our children.”
The state has launched its digital census campaign from April 16 to April 30, aligning with the nationwide rollout of the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027. By participating himself, the Chief Minister sought to underline the importance of the exercise and encourage widespread public involvement.
“In Madhya Pradesh, from April 16 to April 30, the digital census campaign is being conducted. I am also a participant in this initiative. Through all of you, I would like to appeal that we should actively and wholeheartedly take part in the digital census,” he said.
Highlighting the broader impact of the census, Yadav emphasised that the data collected would directly influence development planning across sectors. “The census will help in planning future development, including schools for children, hospitals, and all types of public facilities and infrastructure,” he added.
Alongside public participation, extensive administrative preparations have been underway across Madhya Pradesh.
District collectors have been designated as key nodal authorities to oversee implementation, with local administrations actively engaged in demarcating enumeration blocks covering both urban and rural areas to ensure complete coverage.
In line with the Centre’s push for a digital-first census, Madhya Pradesh has also strengthened its IT infrastructure, enabling mobile app-based data collection and online self-enumeration. Awareness campaigns are being conducted at the district and local levels to encourage citizens to use the digital platform within the April 16–30 window.
The Census 2027 exercise is being conducted in two phases nationwide. The first phase, House Listing and Housing Census, includes a self-enumeration option, allowing citizens to submit their details digitally.
This phase captures information on housing conditions, assets, and amenities. The second phase, population enumeration, will involve door-to-door data collection by officials to record demographic and socio-economic details.
With the administrative machinery fully mobilised and the Chief Minister himself leading from the front, Madhya Pradesh aims to set a benchmark in conducting a transparent, inclusive, and technology-driven census exercise.
