Sub-Inspector U. K. Siddeshwar and Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ranga Reddy range unit, when they demanded Rs 5 lakh and accepted Rs 2 lakh as part payment from the complainant, the bureau said on Wednesday.

The bribe was allegedly sought for filing the chargesheet and not involving or arresting the complainant’s family members in a case at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Station, Shamshabad.

After the trap, searches by the Anti-Corruption Bureau at Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah’s residence led to the seizure of Rs 33.97 lakh cash. Some property documents were also found, and they are being probed, the anti-graft agency said.

The agency stated that the accused officers performed their duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.
