Paresh Rawal Calls Working With Priyadarshan a “Boost to His Spirits” Ahead of Bhooth Bangla Release

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who has collaborated with filmmaker Priyadarshan on 16 films, opened up about his experiences working with the director during the trailer launch of Bhooth Bangla. Sharing his admiration, Rawal said, "I’ve had so much experience working with him—honestly, whenever I work alongside him, my spirits just soar! I’ll put it simply: it’s a truly enjoyable ride; the work is effortless. That’s because this guy really knows his craft. Everything is executed with absolute clarity. There’s no shouting or chaos on set—the work proceeds with complete harmony and ease. Plus, they let you wrap up and head home right on time, at 7:30 in the evening."

 

When asked about the future of comedy in cinema, Rawal emphasized the importance of strong storytelling. He explained, "We need to see better scripts coming through. Yes, we need better scripts so that the work becomes truly exciting and fun. Furthermore—and this represents a shift—our direct competition now includes stalwarts like Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover. Consequently, we, too, have to pull up our socks and deliver top-notch performances. That is what needs to happen."

 

Bhooth Bangla is a fantasy horror comedy directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Akshay Kumar, Ekta Kapoor, and Shobha Kapoor. The film features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi, and is scheduled to release in theaters on 17 April 2026.

 

Rawal’s reflections highlight not only the joy of collaborating with a master filmmaker but also the evolving landscape of comedy in Indian cinema, where even seasoned performers are constantly pushed to innovate and elevate their craft.
