K'taka: Vijayendra predicts 'tsunami-like' support for BJP in bypolls

Davanagere (Karnataka), April 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Karnataka BJP state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Monday said that in the Davanagere South constituency, it is not just a BJP wave this time, but an atmosphere similar to a “tsunami”.

He was speaking during a massive procession organised in connection with the by-election. He said that aware and discerning voters of the constituency have decided to ensure the victory of BJP candidate Srinivasadas Kariyappa.

Targeting the Shamanur family, he stated that development of the constituency cannot be achieved by affluent elites and that for Davanagere South to develop, an ordinary person like Srinivasadas Kariyappa must become the MLA.

“We do not want MLAs who travel in helicopters; people want representatives who come to their doorstep when there is a problem,” he said.

Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi alleged that there is an attempt to capture Davanagere by a single family.

Joshi said that when the grandfather was alive, he served as MLA and minister; now the son is an MLA and minister, and the son’s wife is an MP. “Now they have given a ticket to their son as well. By giving tickets within the family, they are trying to capture Davanagere. If Congress wins again this time, no one else will get a ticket for the next 40 years,” he said.

He added that elections are being held in various parts of the country and claimed that the Congress party has achieved nothing in Assam and will continue to remain at zero. He also criticised the Congress government, saying that it is not properly delivering on its guarantee schemes.

Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, candidate Srinivasadas Kariyappa, MLAs B.P. Harish and S.R. Vishwanath, former Union Minister G.M. Siddeshwar, former minister Renukacharya, party leaders, and a large number of workers participated in the event. The procession was held from Sri Kodandarama Temple in Mandipete to Kaipete.
