The spotlight shone brightly on Homebound, which emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night at the Screen Awards 2026. The film took home the coveted Best Film trophy, cementing its place as a standout story of the year. Adding to its glory, the writing team of Basharat Peer, Neeraj Ghaywan, and Sumit Roy was honored with Best Writing, recognizing the film’s deeply moving narrative.

 

The wins didn’t stop there. Shalini Vatsa earned the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in Homebound, adding another feather to the film’s already decorated cap. The story, centered around two village friends chasing dreams of becoming police officers despite overwhelming odds, clearly struck a chord with both audiences and critics alike.

A spiritual successor to the 2018 hit Dhadak, the film explores caste dynamics within a college romance, bringing a socially relevant theme to mainstream storytelling.

 

Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, Dhadak 2 blends emotion with realism, much like its predecessor but with a sharper social lens. Dharma’s clever “dhadak” pun tied everything together, highlighting not just the film’s title but also the emotional heartbeat behind these stories.
