TN polls: DMK leader Elangovan terms BJP 'anti-Tamil'

Chennai, April 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) DMK spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan on Wednesday launched an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of controlling the political situation by being a "monarch" even as he asserted that the state's people will not accept it for being "anti-Tamil".

"So far, the people of Tamil Nadu have never accepted the BJP because it is anti-Tamil. They (the BJP) could not even bring the AIIMS hospital to Tamil Nadu. They could have easily brought it, but they don't want to do it for the state. They don't want to accept Tamil's cultural things," Elangovan told IANS.

"So people of Tamil Nadu will not accept them," he reiterated.

"It is not DMK's monarchy. DMK is democracy. BJP is the monarch... What is a monarch? One who wants to control the political scenario of this country, they are trying to do all those things."

Elangovan alleged that the BJP puts pressure on the opposition party leaders, and whoever tries to withstand that "will be damaged".

Moreover, he further accused the BJP of corruption. "The biggest corrupt in this country is the BJP. They do everything for some rich people. During the last election, they introduced the electoral bond, which was stopped by the court. But they call others corrupt. They don't care for the state," Elangovan told IANS.

"They want to defame the DMK, but we have done so many good things for the people of Tamil Nadu," he added.

Elangovan also came down heavily on TVK chief Vijay and held him responsible for the Karur stampede.

"Vijay is the only reason for the deaths of 41 people. He (Vijay) had said that he would address the gathering at 12 o'clock. But he came at 7.30 pm. People were made to wait from morning till evening, till he came there. They were made to wait in the scorching sun without water and food. He (Vijay) should be accountable for coming late."

Elangovan claimed that people want Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to return as CM in Tamil Nadu. "Even Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin's meetings are being received well by the public. So our leaders are with the people," he said.
